The Wyoming Cowboys made history in Las Vegas Saturday.

For the first time in University of Wyoming Cowboy basketball history the team won the Mountain West Conference Tournament with a win over San Diego State.

In Las Vegas Saturday afternoon, , March 14, the UW Cowboys pulled out a 45-43 win over the San Diego St. Aztecs. With the win, the Pokes claim not only their first-ever Mountain West title but an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.

The Cowboys (24-9) earned a spot in the title game with a 71-66 overtime win over top-seeded Boise State in the semifinals on Friday, while the second-seeded Aztecs (26-7) downed Colorado State, 56-43.

This was only the second MW title game ever for UW, as its first appearance came in 2006 against San Diego State as well. The Aztecs earned a 69-64 victory in overtime in that contest.
