Wyoming Family Feuds With Arizona Congressman Brother [VIDEO]
War Memorial Stadium in Laramie is a backdrop for one of the most shocking political ads of 2018. The video features six members of the Gosar family speaking out against their brother Paul, a United States Congressman from Arizona.
The Gosars were born in Rock Springs and raised in Pinedale. After high school, Paul moved to Arizona and became a dentist. In 2010, the conservative Republican was elected to the United States House of Representatives. In the ad "A Family Defends Their Honor", Tim, Jennifer, Gaston, Joan, Grace, and David Gosar endorse their brother's opponent in the race for Arizona's 4th district. Several of the interviews in the ad were filmed in Wyoming.
"None of this is pleasant for any of us," David Gosar says. "We gotta stand up for our good name, this is not who we are."
Conspicuously absent from the ad is Pete Gosar. The former University of Wyoming football star and head of the Wyoming Democratic Party has been an outspoken critic of his older brother. Like Paul, Pete's first run for public office came in 2010 when he lost the Democratic Governor's Primary. He won the Democratic Primary in 2014 but lost to Matt Mead in the general election.
Representative Gosar responded to the ad on Twitter, labeling his siblings as disgruntled Democrats who put politics over family.
"You can’t pick your family. We all have crazy aunts and relatives, etc. and my family is no different. I hope they find peace in their hearts and let go of the hate," he tweeted.
