In anticipation of the Total Solar Eclipse on August 21st, it may be that Mother Nature is showing off with an opening act, or, another show in the skies. Monday, July 17, if conditions are right, you can take a look at the Northern Lights, which are common, if you are far north of here. This time, Wyomingites may be able to get a peek.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting a colorful show with the Northern Lights that are not usually visible in Wyoming.

“The 3-Day Aurora Forecast model shows the intensity and location of the aurora as expected for the time shown at the top of the map.”

Note that the aurora will not be visible during daylight hours and it may be an hour or more before sunrise or after sunset that the aurora can be seen from the ground.

Note, a short term 30 minute aurora forecast is also available.
