Wyoming Inmate Byrd dies in Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution

Charles David Byrd Jr., a Wyoming inmate, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington, Wyoming, after a
lengthy illness.

Byrd was sentenced on October 17, 2003 by District Court Judge Jeffrey A. Donnell in
Albany County. He was serving consecutive sentences (one after the other) for two counts of sexual assault in the second degree (20-40 years each); one count of sexual assault in the third degree (5-15 years); and one count of incest (2-5 years).

Byrd was born on October 17, 1948 in Concordia, Kansas. As per departmental policy an autopsy has been ordered.
