You might expect Florida would be the favorite place to retire in America, but it didn’t even crack the list of the top 10 cities to finish out your days. I remember the joke about "Don't set your water glass down on the table in Florida, somebody will put their dentures in it."

Figuring in cost of living, taxes, health care, weather, and well-being, Bankrate has determined Wyoming is our country’s best place for retirees.

The Mountain West seems best and the Midwest did alright, but notice the East Coast has only one entrant in the top 10:

1.    Wyoming
2.    South Dakota
3.    Colorado
4.    Utah
5.    Virginia
6.    Montana
7.    Idaho
8.    Iowa
9.    Arizona
10.    Nebraska

Not shown in these figures are that Wyoming is also a great place to grow more than old. With some of the most amazing hunting, fishing and outdoor sports available, it's an excellent place to enjoy the great outdoors.

When it comes to quality of people, The Cowboy State does very well there also. One of the reasons I moved here was the people and their concern for community. They are not up in your business, but they are here to lend a hand when you need it.

The list could go on. I am just thankful I am already here.
