The Wyoming Cowboys just upset the 23rd-ranked Nevada Wolfpack Wednesday night in Laramie at the Arena-Auditorium, 104-103, in double overtime.

The Cowboys survived their leading scorer fouling out in the first overtime. They improved to 4-0 in OT games this season, which have all been in Laramie.

Senior’s Louis Adams and Hayden Dalton stepped up in the second overtime to lift Wyoming to the victory. They accounted for 10 of UW’s 15 points in that period. Adams made what proved to be the game-winning free throw with 6.2 seconds left.

Those two were joined by junior Justin James in the post-game press conference, as the players talked about their upset.

James finished with a career-best 33 points and 10 rebounds on his 21st birthday. It was his fifth double-double this season and third 30-plus scoring game of the season. Dalton scored 25 points for his seventh 20-plus point game. This marked the first time since Feb. 15, 1996 against UTEP, that UW had two players with 25-plus points in the same game. Adams added 17 off the bench. The Cowboys also made a season high 34-of-42 free throws in the game.

Wyoming improved to 1-2 under head coach Allen Edwards against ranked teams. Edwards also discussed the upset afterwards.

The Pokes are now 28-29 versus ranked opponents in Laramie. That includes a 12-12 mark in the Arena-Auditorium. Their most recent victory over a ranked foe at home was Feb. 11, 2014 over then No. 5 San Diego State, 68-62.

Wyoming will play at San Jose State Saturday at 3 p.m.
