Last week, the state of Wyoming lost another hero. "Major Mike", a retired military dog who served two tours of duty in Iraq was shot and killed by a bicyclist near his home in Powell.

The story, which has received national attention, prompted one Wyoming resident to launch a GoFundMe campaign in order to bury Mike with full military honors. In a matter of days, the campaign has raised over $13,000 from over 300 donors.

The money will be donated to Mike's owner Matthew Bessler, who adopted the Belgian Malinois after they served together in Iraq. After covering the costs of a funeral and autopsy, leftover funds will be donated to a veteran's organization.
