Joy Greenwald, news reporter for our sister station KGAB, reports Trooper Robert King was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Arrest records show King was booked for violating a protection order and criminal entry, both misdemeanor charges.
He has not yet made his initial court appearance.
The Cheyenne Police Department has so far been unavailable to comment on King's arrest or the investigation. This story will be updated if that changes.

A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper remains on administrative leave with pay as the Cheyenne Police Department conducts an investigation.
Trooper Robert King was placed on administrative leave on Feb. 17 after police told the Patrol about the investigation, which involves King, according to a news release from the Patrol.
King's placement on leave is in accordance with Patrol policy. He has been a trooper since 2008.
The Patrol is assisting the Cheyenne Police Department with the investigation.
The Patrol's Professional Standards and Conduct Division is also conducting an administrative internal investigation.
No further details have been released, and the Patrol cannot comment on details of the investigation, as the Cheyenne Police Department is the primary investigating agency.
