Wyoming’s Longest Running Married Couple Celebrates Their 72nd Valentine’s Day
Love is in the air today. Especially in Casper, where Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Eldine Maixner will spend their 72nd Valentine's Day together as married couple.
Earlier this month, the Maixner's celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
According to the Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Joe and Eldine currently have the longest running marriage in the State of Wyoming, dating back to their wedding day on February 2, 1946.
The high school sweethearts fell in love in the 10th grade in their hometown of Bee, Nebraska. They eventually settled in Cheyenne, where they raised their two children.
Over the years, their family has grown to include grandchildren and, a few years ago, they moved to Casper to be closer to their five great-grandchildren.
Now in their 90s, the Maixners remain active. Joe still drives to church on Sunday mornings and the couple is a regular during Friday night Happy Hours at the local pub.
