Marty Klatt Alaskan King Salmon

My name is Marty Klatt. I caught this Alaskan King Salmon on June 24th, 1995 when I was 6.5 years old. My dad took me fishing at Ship Creek in Anchorage, Alaska. (Dad was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Alaska.)

We were fishing with salmon eggs off the bottom when my pole started to jerk. Dad thought that the current had pulled the bait off the bottom, so he took my pole thinking he'd have to recast it out again. When he realized there was a fish on the line, he made sure I had a good hook set & handing me back the pole. It was funny because he had to hold the back of the lawn chair because my feet couldn't reach the ground, I couldn't brace myself and at one point the fish had me balancing on the front two legs of the chair. The fish almost pulled me in! I fought it for about 15 minutes. When it tired, dad went down & netted the fish while another fisherman held the chair.

The King was 45 inches long & weighed 36 pounds. I was only 48 inches tall and weighed 58 pounds.

7lb. 12Oz. small mouth bass. I landed this one out of Panther Pond in Raymond, Maine. I caught it with a Red Devil, using a ninja turtle kiddy rod! I'm 7 years old in this picture, and yes, that is a tatoo of a lion on my forehead! Haven't caught one this big since! (now 24). Don't think I've smiled that big since either!

Brent - Big trout

This is my husband Brent, he caught this bad girl at Crystal Res last year on Fathers Day!! She weighed in at 5 pounds and was 24 1/2 inches long. She even bent the lure he was using! We hiked all the way out with her in his hands, he never let her down, she was so huge that she wouldn't even fit into the cooler we had at our campsite. We had to turn her diag. and fold her fin up just for her to fit. Radical Rainbow Trout!! She is beautiful mounted!!

This photo is of my grandpa James and I, Jessica, when I was little. I grew up in the country and fishing was one of my favorite pastimes. This photo was taken by my mother at a little pond on my grandparents' property.
I have many fond memories of fishing with Grandpa. We would go out early and spend the day talking about all the things he his brothers did when they were little. One story involved dynamite and a pond. He told us they had wanted to catch some fish and thought dynamite might be a fun way. He recalled the entire pond leaping into the air before their very eyes. The fishing was very good that day..
Grandpa's dad helped to make the pond that Grandpa and I were fishing at that day. I will always hold the memories of those times together close to my heart since Grandpa passed away three years ago the end of this month. His last words before he died were 'Get the net'. I know that he is happy fishing for that big fish in the sky.

Huh... yeah sure it did!  Well, we do know it took some guts to send THAT picture in for a big fish contest?  Or maybe you're just a little goofy...as evidenced by your silly grin!  We liked it anyway and gave you our last runner up spot!  Maybe Cabela's has some glasses that can help you?
