The first phase of work on the Eighth Avenue street project is slated to being on Tuesday, March 28, weather permitting.

City spokesman Scott Smith says the first phase of work will start at Hynds Boulevard and move east on Eighth Avenue. This phase will include the replacement of curb, gutter, and sidewalk as needed.

Smith says after the concrete work is completed, the asphalt pavement will be milled and replaced with new asphalt.  Smith says that while there are no traffic detours planned, there may be some lane shifts for motorists.

He says the plan is to complete phase one before Cheyenne Frontier Days 2017.

Smith says after CFD is over work on the second phase will start. That will include the area of Eighth Avenue from the Converse/ E.19th/Pershing Roundabout to just east of the intersection of Pershing Boulevard and Windmill Road.

Phase three will be Pershing from Evans Avenue to Maxwell Avenue. Smith says the schedule calls for phases two and three to be finished by August 17.
