Cheyenne residents of all ages can experience South Cheyenne’s new fitness course between Johnson Jr. High and Goins Elementary School during a grand opening hosted by the City of Cheyenne Parks & Recreation Department and Laramie County Community Partnership on Thursday May, 31 at 2:00p.m.
“I am so excited to be part of the team that made this FREE fitness course available to all the residents of Cheyenne,” said Alice Burron, Exercise Physiologist. “Through the partnership with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, the Laramie County Community Partnership and The City of Cheyenne Parks & Recreation Department we’re excited to unveil an industry- leading outdoor fitness system right here in Cheyenne.”
This section of the Greater Cheyenne Greenway is receiving this additional amenity through a grant from the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Community Benefit program in the amount of $22,218 combined with both financial support and expertise from the Laramie County Community Partnership’s Healthier Laramie County Physical Activity and Obesity work group and the City of Cheyenne Parks & Recreation Department.
“The mission of the Laramie County Community Partnership’s Healthier Laramie County work group is to promote healthy weight through good nutrition and adequate exercise in adults and children in Laramie County” said Alfrieda Gonzales, Executive Director.

Festivities will kick off with opening announcements from Todd Feezer, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation and representatives from Cheyenne’s Governing Body, the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and the Laramie County Community Partnership. Following the speaker presentations the course will be open for those interested in trying the new equipment. Wellness coaches courtesy of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Health and Fitness staff will be on site to assist visitors with various aspects of the newly installed equipment and answer questions.
"Access to opportunities for increased physical activity and cost are often barriers to engagement. The new Energi© Fitness Stations in south Cheyenne provide residents with an easily accessible and free solution to improve overall wellness," said Kellie Moser, Co-chair of the Healthier Laramie County Physical Activity and Obesity work group. "A free mobile fitness trainer that provides instruction on proper use is available at each station for download to any smart phone."
The event marks the first opportunity for eager residents to see the fitness course they will be able to enjoy for years to come.
