Don't be alarmed if you hear explosions this afternoon west of Cheyenne.

Explosives disposal experts will be detonating ordinances at 4:30 p.m., July 11, on the northern portion of F. E. Warren Air Force Base.The unexploded ordinances were discovered on the closed firing ranges that make up much of the northern half of the base. Today's detonations are part of the Air Force base's ongoing efforts to reduce potential risks associated with the closed ranges.

Experts from Environmental Chemical Corporations will perform the detonations in strict adherence with Air Force and Department of Defense explosives safety requirements.

People living on or around the base in west Cheyenne may hear loud explosions.
