How would you like to see hundreds of bands this weekend without a lot of traveling?
It's possible at the fifth annual Fort Collins Music Experiment, featuring more than 200 local bands at 20 different venues over 2 days.

The FoCoMX5 starts Friday, April 19, at 3:30 p.m. Wristbands are available at the Art Lab, 239 Linden Street, north of the Old Town Square from noon until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for $30. They also have maps and more information. Rock N' Robin's, 804 South College Avenue, also is selling the cloth wristbands.

Most of the 20 venues are near Old Town and buses are available to take you to the other venues.

The bands are mostly from northern Colorado with some coming from Wyoming. The Patti Fiasco began in Laramie and is now based in Fort Collins, they'll perform Saturday, April 20, at 11 p.m. at the Aggie Theatre. Their performance will be followed by Musketeer Gripweed at midnight.

Friday's lineup at the Aggie Theatre includes Fierce Bad Rabbit at 11 p.m. and Dead Floyd beginning at midnight.

Other venues include Avogadro's Number, 605 South Mason, with music of Liz Barnez starting at 11:45 p.m. on Friday and featuring the Wendy Woo Band at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

Some of the other tasty bands to look forward to on Friday include Hot Gazpacho at the Fort Collins Brewery beginning at 7 p.m. and Danielle Ate the Sandwich at Everyday Joe's, 144 South Mason Street, from 9 to 10 p.m.

A couple other local favorites playing the Fort Collins Music Experiment are Shotgun Shogun at Moe's Original Bar B Que, 181 North College, at 11:45 p.m. on Friday and Blue Grama Bluegrass at The Astoria, 146 North College Avenue, playing from 11:45 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
