Have you heard about the Grateful Dead's plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary?

The surviving members of the Grateful Dead will reunite for three performances over the fourth of July weekend at Soldier Field in Chicago.

Rhythm guitarist Bob Weir is scheduled to appear and perform on the CBS TV 'Late Late Show' with guest host John Mayer on Thursday, February 5. The show, formerly hosted by Craig Ferguson with his robot side-kick Geoff, is trying new formats, locations and guest hosts since his departure. It starts at 11:35 p.m. on Cheyenne's CBS Newschannel 5.

Weir is expected to focus on the 'Fare Thee Well' concerts coming up July 3, 4 and 5. The Grateful Dead ticket office stopped mail order sales for the shows after more than 60,000 responses poured in from faithful Dead Heads.

The San Francisco-bay area band celebrates the 50th year since they formed as The Warlocks in 1965. The remaining members of the group; Bob Weir, bassist Phil Lesh and drummers Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart will be joined by keyboardist Bruce Hornsby, Trey Anastasio of Phish and Jeff Chimenti of RatDog for the Chicago shows.

Will you be traveling to the Windy City for the shows? I'm thinking of setting up a Kickstarter campaign to start raising enough money to get there.
