Can you handle a full days worth of the blues?

The Greeley Blues Jam 2015 at Island Grove Arena on Saturday, June 13, will feature Elvin Bishop, Delbert McClinton and a Polish band called the Boogie Boys.

A free Friday of blues music will be offered starting at 3 p.m. at venues all around Greeley to usher in this year's Greeley Blues Jam. Entertainment on Saturday, June 13, takes place at Island Grove Park kicking off with the Boogie Boys out of Poland at 11 a.m. and wrapping up with Delbert McClinton after 11 p.m.

Delbert McClinton is known for his hit 'Givin' It Up For Your Love' and for giving John Lennon his first harmonica lesson in the early '60's. Elvin Bishop will take the stage just ahead of McClinton on Saturday night. He had a hit with 'Fooled Around And Fell In Love' and was a guitarist in the Paul Butterfield Blues Band which was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Others bands playing at the 2015 Greeley Blues Jam include:

  • The Maynard Mills Blues Band

There will be three stages with musical choices, including the Blues Stage 101 where kids of all ages can learn about blues music and meet young musicians from around the area. Food and other vendors will be available inside and outside the arena.

In downtown Greeley on Friday, June 12, free blues music will be performed on stages in more than 14 bars and restaurants. The evening kicks off with a free concert on the 9th Street Plaza starting at 5 p.m. with Johnny Long and then the headliners from Poland, the Boogie Boys.

Entertainment around Greeley on Friday night includes the Delta Sonics with Ben Pu at The Moxi Theater, the Rob Wilson Band at Moody's American Grill and many others at venues around town from 9 p.m. to midnight.

If you love the blues, it might be worth your time checking out the Greeley Blues Jam coming up on June 12 and 13 just a 45 minute drive south of Cheyenne on U.S. 85.
