If you happened to be at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 26, 1964 you could have seen The Beatles perform on their first extensive U.S. tour.

Today we celebrate the first major rock band to play at Red Rocks, before the Fab Four, the venue was known for hosting classical and operatic performances. The Beatles helped open the door for the many rock acts to follow who have played the natural amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado.

Tickets to The Beatles concert in 1964 at Red Rocks were priced at $6.60. Many fans traveled from Wyoming to see the show, as it was during the height of Beatlemania.

Singer Jackie DeShannon opened the concert on August 26, 1964 followed by The Beatles who only played about 35 minutes. Lots of the fans never even heard the band because of all the girls screaming.

According to fans in attendance, some of the songs that the band played were 'Twist & Shout,' 'Roll Over Beethoven,' 'Boys' and 'She Loves You.'
