Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says city officials have been doing a lot of planning over the last few months to get ready for the big influx of people that typically comes with Cheyenne Frontier Days.

He says such agencies as the Cheyenne Police Department, City/County Health, Parks and Recreation and Cheyenne Fire and Rescue are among the organizations  that can be effected by the crowds of visitors. Kaysen says all of those agencies have been holding CFD planning meetings for several weeks.

Among the busiest agencies will include the police department, which postpones vacation time until after CFD. Cheyenne Police Detectives will be wearing uniforms and directing traffic around Frontier Park, according to Officer Dan Long.

He also says extra police officers have been brought in from Laramie to help manage the increased crowds and traffic.
