The band that started in Athens, Georgia, in the 80's, R.E.M., will release their last record on the Warner Brothers' label March 8, according to an article coming out in Rolling Stone magazine.

Bass player Mike Mills says after spending 2008 on the road for their album Accelerate, the trio chose not to tour behind the new album. On the band's future plans without a record label he comments, "We have the option of doing anything we want — and no pressure to do anything."

The new album due out this spring will be called Collapse Into Now and will feature some special guests, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder sings on "It Happened Today" and Pattie Smith adds some chant like vocals on "Blue."

Here's one of my favorites from the band, when they played on Sesame Street.
