Veterans from around the area attended the annual Homeless Veterans Stand Down event in Cheyenne on Thursday.

Lisa Gossert Coordinator of the Homeless Program at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center says the event brings together veterans with the resources they may need. She says homeless veterans may qualify for various VA benefits, but don't know they or eligible or how to access them.

Also available were dental checkups, free hair cuts and supplies for the coming winter.

Governor Matt Mead along with Major Gen. Luke Reiner, Adjutant General for Wyoming, and Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen were on hand to serve lunch to the veterans.
