A new album from U2 will reportedly hit shelves some time next year, according to the Irish band’s U.K. label, Mercury Records. The disc will arrive five years after after ‘No Line on the Horizon,’ which has been certified platinum in the United States and was nominated for the Best Rock Album Grammy at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards but ultimately lost to Green Day‘s ’21st Century Breakdown.’

The news came Friday (July 13) via an announcement from Mercury Records that was reported in a pair of tweets from the U.K. publication Music Week, which also revealed new releases planned for 2013 from Arcade Fire, Metallica and Noah and the Whale. “2013 could be one of the best years Mercury’s ever had,” Mercury’s U.K. label president Jason Iley said, according to one of the tweets. Arcade Fire’s Grammy-winning last album, ‘The Suburbs,’ dropped in 2010.

U2 supported ‘No Line’ with their 360° Tour, a worldwide stadium trek that included 110 shows over the course of three years. It raked in more than $700 million, making it the top-grossing tour of all time. Next year also marks the 15th anniversary of when singer Bono said U2 were “reapplying for the job … [of] the best band in the world,” which preceded the release of the rock-oriented ‘All That You Can’t Leave Behind’ album.

The news comes a week after U2 bassist Adam Clayton’s former assistant Carol Hawkins was found guilty of embezzling over $3.6 million and sentenced to seven years in jail.
