The Best and Worst States for Millennials have been ranked by WalletHub.com.  #1 by far is North Dakota, then 2nd through 5th closely jumble. Congrats to our border states, Top 3 South Dakota and #6 Utah, followed very close by #7 Wyoming.

The generation with the biggest population now is those born from 1981 to 1997, or from ages 20 to 36.

Before looking to see the states at the bottom of the list (least millennial friendly), if you’re like me, you guessed Florida, and Arizona. Boy are we characterizing, but they are both in the bottom 10, just before the worst, Alabama, Mississippi, and West Virginia.

It’s nice to see the Cowboy State rank 3rd among states with the lowest percentage of millennials who live with their parents. We’re 4th in least millennial unemployment, and a top 10 state for where millennials find it most affordable. Wyoming’s only questionable rank was #35 in millennial education and health. Here is more about how “millennial-friendly” Wyoming ranks:

19th – Housing Cost for Millennials
14th – % of Millennials
15th – Average Monthly Earnings for Millennials
25th – Millennial Homeownership Rate
7th – Millennial Volunteer Rate

The overall number of factors by which millennials were judged might make a math teacher’s head spin. One minor category also figured was Wallet Hub’s most single friendly states, where Wyoming singles got a ranking of #12.

There’s a saying that the most hated is also the most loved. The media seems to hate this age group, while the marketing world loves them. Both mean millennials have the biggest influence on our culture.

Not to characterize further, but other age group’s do have perceptions of millennials. It might be safe to say one is narcissism. Wallet Hub found that in volunteerism and civic engagement, however, millennials actually score very high, especially in WY.
