Reverend Brandon Baker isn't your typical minister. The Wyoming native and Cheyenne East High School alum preaches the healing powers of marijuana at northern Colorado's Green Faith Ministry.

Since 2005, the "First Church of Cannabis" has operated as a non-denominational ministry and non-profit charity organization just miles across the Wyoming border.

The tenant of their faith is the Sacramental Herb Prayer, a pipe smoking ceremony Baker describes as "a sacred ritual for connecting physical and spiritual worlds. The pipe is a link between the earth and the sky. Nothing is more sacred. The pipe is our prayer in physical form. Smoke becomes our words and thoughts; it goes out, touches everything, and becomes a part of all there is. The fire in the pipe is the same fire in the sun, which is the source of life."

An outspoken advocate for the National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws, Baker has also advised similar ministries in other states who freely use marijuana under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

In addition to regular services and events, Reverend Baker has officiated several "Cannabis Weddings." The church also operates a Hemp Farm in Weld County, Colorado, under the name Green Faith Hemp Services.
