Cheyenne will officially welcome the 2016 Christmas season with the annual Cheyenne Christmas Parade tonight (Nov. 26)

Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dale Steenbergen says this year’s parade will kick off around 5:30 p.m. at 17th and Carey.

The first float of the parade will be Toys for Tots, and parade-goers are being asked to bring unwrapped gifts to donate for local children. Steenbergen says there will be over 125 floats in this year’s parade with the possibility of even a few more being added before the parade on Saturday.

Steenbergen is reminding people that the Christmas parade follows a different route than the Cheyenne Frontier Days Parades.

The Christmas Parade will go north on Carey from 17th to 24th Street and then over to Capitol Avenue where it will march south. It will then turn west on Lincolnway before wrapping up on Pioneer.

Steenbergen says the parade should serve as a reminder to encourage everyone to shop in Cheyenne this year. He says it is more important than ever that people shop locally this year because of the economic challenges being faced by local businesses.
