The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will conduct its 22nd annual “Stamp out Hunger” food drive on Saturday.

United Way of Laramie County spokeswoman Sara Weber says letter carriers will collect food donations as they deliver mail along their postal routes on that day. You can donate by leaving food out by you mail box on Saturday. Weber says non-perishable  items such as rice, beans, pasta and canned meats are ideal donations. But she says glass containers are discouraged due to safety concerns.

Weber says the drive is important because this is a time of year when many charities run short on food.

Weber says the donations will go to local groups such as the Comea House, Needs Inc., Safehouse Services, The Salvation Army, St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
