A (Possibly) True Story About Harrison Ford and Wyoming Women

Star Wars geeks, rejoice! Han Solo is coming back to the big screen. Last night, a new trailer was released featuring Harrison Ford reprising his famous roll in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

To celebrate, here's a possibly true story I was recently told by a gentlemen in Jackson about Harrison Ford's frequent visits to Wyoming.

According to this guy's account, several years ago Ford volunteered to be part of the local search and rescue team in the Jackson area. When a visitor was reported missing in the mountains, if Ford was in town, he would conduct an aerial search in his private helicopter.

Evidently, when word got out about Ford's efforts, it presented a new problem. Woman were deliberately reporting themselves missing in order to be rescued by one of the world's most famous actors.

At this point, according to the story I was told, Ford insisted that he should only be called for search and rescue missions that were urgent in nature. Only after an initial search was conducted, Ford would volunteer to search for any missing persons.

While I can't vouch for the authenticity of the story, it sounds legit. Ford has owned a vacation home in the Jackson area for years and has a well documented passion for flying. It's also documented that he has conducted search and rescue missions in the past.

And even if the story isn't entirely true, why let something trivial, like the truth, get in the way of a good story?
