How would you like to see free movies about the great outdoors?

The Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour returns to Laramie Wednesday and Thursday, February 18 and 19, showing free movies at The Gryphon Theatre.

Tickets are required for admittance and are available to the public at the Laramie Plains Civic Center and for University of Wyoming students, faculty and staff at the Wyoming Union Information Desk.

The UW Student Activities Council is bringing the Banff Mountain Film Festival Tour to Laramie. Films begin at 7 p.m. both nights at the Gryphon Theatre, 710 E. Garfield Street.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is an international film competition held in Alberta, Canada, since 1976 and each year winners are selected to tour various parts of the United States.The film lineup is specifically tailored to the area in which it's playing.

Films included in this year's lineup include:

  • 'Cerro Torre: A Snowball's Chance in Hell' (about David Lama's attempt to free climb a mountain in the South American Patagonian Ice Field)
  • 'And Then We Swam' (a documentary following two friends who decide to row across the Indian Ocean after a night of heavy drinking)
