Change for Change at Saturday’s Cowboy Basketball Game

You can help raise funds and awareness for the prevention of child abuse at Saturday's Wyoming Cowboys basketball game.

The University of Wyoming Athletics Department has teamed up with Prevent Child Abuse Wyoming (PCAWY) for the second annual "Change for Change" fundraising campaign during the Pokes game against Boise State.

Aimed at raising money for child abuse prevention in the state, volunteers will be collecting change and various donations at entrances to the Arena-Auditorium before, during and after the game. Funds raised by fans at the game will be matched by Wyoming State Bank for the first $2500.

Pam Shyatt, wife of Cowboy head coach Larry Shyatt, is a PCAWY board member with over 20 years of work in the field of child abuse prevention.

Larry Shyatt said that through the years the Shyatt family has revolved around his team's and wins and losses, but that's not at the forefront here.

"Mama Shy's been involved in child abuse prevention for many years; takes a great deal of pride and empathy; and one is too many, so it doesn't matter if it's in Florida; if it's in our state; it is epidemic throughout our country, and something that needs to be looked at. I'm really thrilled that she's (Pam) going to have an opportunity to raise some awareness, as well as hopefully raise some money this Saturday in a very worth while cause."

Prevent Child Abuse Wyoming is a program of the Wyoming Citizen Review Panel, a non-profit focused on the safety, permanency and well-being of Wyoming children and families.
