Cheyenne BOPU: We Are Watching For Watering Violators

The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities [BOPU] is warning people about breaking the rules on summer watering.

A BOPU news release issued on Thursday reminds local residents of the summer watering restrictions, which prohibit watering of lawns or gardens between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Residents are allowed to water up to three days a week during the morning or evening hours, but allowing water to run down the street is prohibited. Washing vehicles is allowed only if a hose with an automatic nozzle and/or buckets are used.

The summer watering rules went into effect on May 1 and expire on Sept. 1. The news release also includes the following statement:

''Board crews have observed several residents and businesses not following the summer watering schedule. As a reminder, Board crews are enforcing these rules. A first violation will result in a warning. A second violation may result in a $435 fine added to the water bill. Third and subsequent violations may result in $730 fines."
