Cheyenne East Ladies Win State Basketball Championship

The Cheyenne East ladies claimed their second 4A basketball championship in the last three years Saturday night in Casper.

The championship victory of Gillette 53-50 did not come easy, however, as the Lady Thunderbird's trailed by as much as 15 points in the second half.

In the championship win, Jessie Erickson led the Lady T-Birds with 11 points, and both Jadyn Kanzler and Cosette Stellern added 10.

East was the second seed out of the 4A east and had to beat Evanston 52-34 on Thursday and Laramie 58-51 on Friday to move on to the finals.
