Cheyenne Man Who Caused Fatal Motorcycle Crash Won’t Face Charges
An SUV driver who pulled in front of a motorcyclist at the intersection of Whitney Road and U.S. Highway 30, killing the biker, was ticketed but won't face any charges for causing the crash.
Cheyenne police say 30-year-old Christopher Van Tuyl didn't see 21-year-old Braden Sauls coming from the west when he entered the intersection around 4:50 p.m. on Sept. 4.
Sauls couldn't avoid hitting the SUV and died as a result of the impact.
"It's unfortunate a young man lost his life, but it's human error that caused the crash," said Officer Kevin Malatesta.
Malatesta says Van Tuyl was issued a stop sign ticket, but neither one of the Cheyenne men were impaired or speeding.
