Marian Orr was just a couple of weeks into her new job as Cheyenne’s first female Mayor when the job that largely gets done in meetings and offices took a turn for the icy cold & wet

The 5th Annual Schwartz Memorial Plunge happened Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Sloan’s Lake in Lions Park. With all funds raised going to support E.O.D. Warrior s and their families, our new city official proved herself to be more than a show-pony. She braved the icy waters of Sloan’s Lake to keep the memory of Technical Sergeant Matthew Schwartz alive.

Matthew was an explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) technician stationed at F.E. Warren Air Force Base who was lost in an explosion of his vehicle in southern Afghanistan back in 2012. Friends organized the memorial plunge to aid those who are affected by this very dangerous job that can end in great sacrifice.

Thanks to all who showed up to put the fun in fund raising. See you out there again next year.
