In what could be a new fundraising trend, the city Van Meter, Iowa, is raffling off a chance to taser a government official. As part of a public safety fundraiser to get a new squad car and maybe a few more officers, the raffle winner will get the chance to use a Taser on City Administrator Jake Anderson or Councilman Bob Lacy at a street dance on July 18.

The idea came up during a funding meeting with police the two volunteered. Tickets cost $5 each. Anderson said he’s never been stunned with a Taser before, adding: “I imagine it will hurt.”

After July 18th, you won’t have to imagine, you’ll know, unless it stops your heart.

I’ll bet on second thought, a dunk tank sounds real good right about now.

And in response to the headline question of “Could You Taser The Mayor For Money?” No, Mayor Kaysen is just too nice, but if it were a worthy enough cause and he volunteered, no, no, well maybe, no.
