Grateful Memories of Astronaut Neil Armstrong [VIDEO]
Were you watching when Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon?
If you haven't watched the historic black and white footage, here's a YouTube video collage. Watching it took me right back to July 20, 1969.
Our family was returning from vacation and when we stopped in Denver for dinner, we saw Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin's moon walk on the employee's little TV behind the counter. So I always associate the first steps on the lunar surface with another historic event, my very first Arby's roast beef sandwich.
Neil Armstrong passed away last Saturday, August 25, at the age of 82. He was laid to rest today, so in his honor flags were lowered to half staff.
Mother Nature seems to be paying her respect too as tonight will be the second full moon of August, a Blue Moon.
As you look up at the bright moon, think of those historic words spoken by Armstrong as he descended the Lunar Module ladder, 'that's one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind' and imagine how much farther we may go in the future.
