At the 2017 Cheyenne Frontier Days, I ran across Michael Martin Murphy, and he confirmed what I had suspected for years.

In 1975, I was a DJ and Music Director at a radio station in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I drove down to Chicago where Epic Records was unboxing their new record releases and we all heard Michael Murphy’s Blue Sky – Night Thunder album for the first time.

The song “Wildfire,” really impressed me and the next day, I was the 1st DJ anywhere in the world to play “Wildfire” on the radio.
Major markets don’t play songs until the smaller markets get good results. As a reputable reporting station, other stations started playing the “Wildfire” and it eventually became a platinum hit.
I’m proud to be the first person to ever play “Wildfire” on the radio and of my role in helping good music rise to the top. It doesn’t always happen.
In recent conversation with Michael Martin Murphy at Cheyenne Frontier Days on Friday, July 28, 2017, he confirmed that the song’s success began in Green Bay and my station was the only one playing it. He confirmed what I had suspected for all of these years.

Michael is the real deal artist, cowboy and gentleman and hopefully, will pardon my lame, post interview camera work.
