Bad weather isn't going to stop Cheyenne's downtown merchants from ushering in the holidays. With the Thanksgiving weekend winter storm behind us, they will be doing a Shop Small Take 2. The ‘do-over’ will be on Saturday, December 7.

The forecast for Saturday looks great and small business owners are hoping families will come to downtown Cheyenne to shop, dine, explore, visit with Santa, and enjoy an evening of holiday cheer with the rescheduled Christmas parade and tree-lighting.

The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has been working with both merchants and restaurants to help spread the word about this extra Shop Small event. Ten participating restaurants will be offering Small Plate Specials in addition to over twenty retailers running in-store Shop Small specials.

In addition to Shop Small Take 2, residents can visit the downtown Chari-Trees display at the Plains Hotel. Each tree is decorated by a local nonprofit, and trees can be bid on or donations dropped off. The trees are on display until December 14th.

Saturday also marks the beginning of ‘pop-up’ Santa in downtown businesses. On Saturday, from 10:00 AM until noon Santa will be in the Plains Hotel lobby with caroling and hot chocolate. From 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM he will be at Just Dandy on 17th Street. On Sunday, December 8 he'll be at Mary’s Mountain Cookies, on Lincolnway, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
