Cheyenne Man Accused of Crashing Into Building While High & Drunk
A 26-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly crashing into the Sierra Trading Post Fulfillment Center while high and drunk.
According to a booking sheet, police were called to the scene at 5121 Campstool Rd. around 7:19 p.m. on New Year's Day and arrived to find a Chevrolet Monte Carlo that had smashed into the west entryway wall of the warehouse.
Police say the wall was broken with a shattered window and broken pieces of brick and wall knocked into the interior of the building, and the value of the damage was more than $1,000.
Police contacted Cody Lane Alkire at the scene, who reportedly admitted to driving the car and intentionally running the car into the wall of the building.
Police say Alkire, who was handcuffed and taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and medically cleared for jail, admitted to smoking a bowl of marijuana and "slamming" a 40-ounce Monster Beast, which contains 6% alcohol, before leaving the house.
Alkire was subsequently charged with misdemeanor DUI and felony property destruction.
He made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday morning, during which his bond was set at $2,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 10 at 2 p.m.
