A 64-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after reportedly, once again, being caught with methamphetamine.

According to a booking sheet, police stopped John Earl Baker Jr. at Warren Avenue and East 9th Street on Friday, Jan. 3 after they spotted him driving a silver Chevrolet Impala with no visible registration.

Police say Baker told them he didn't have a driver's license and was unable to provide current registration and insurance.

Police say when they ran Baker's name, they discovered he had a suspended Wyoming driver's license, his second offense.

K-9 Sniff Leads to Meth

Officer Sweet and his K-9 partner, Dutch, were called to the scene, and the dog reportedly alerted on the rear passenger door.

Baker was asked to step out of the car and searched, and reportedly had a suspected methamphetamine pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue in his coat pocket.

Baker was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center without incident.

He was subsequently charged with two misdemeanors, including possession of methamphetamine and suspended driver's license, as well as felony possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense.

Bond Set at $3K Cash

Baker made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court on Tuesday, Jan. 7, during which his bond was set at $3,000 cash and his preliminary hearing was scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.
