Man Fleeing Traffic Stop Hit By Car, Closing I-25 In Colorado
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says a man running from a traffic stop on Interstate 25 near Loveland on Monday was hit by a car, causing the closure of I-25 for several hours.
That's according to a post on the Larimer County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
According to the post, the incident started around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 14 when deputies started a traffic stop in the area of Rocky Mountain Avenue and Highway 34 in Loveland.
The motorist sped away from the attempted stop, leading to a car chase. The suspect charged recklessly southbound down Interstate 25 before coming to a stop near Mead due to a flat tire.

The male suspect then got out of his car with a gun, jumping over the center median before being hit by a car in the northbound lane of I-25. He was given first aid until medical first responders showed up.
Three deputies suffered minor injuries. The suspect was seriously injured and was taken to a local hospital.
“Thank you to our local partners for their support during this resource-intensive incident,” stated Undersheriff Joe Shellhammer. “The suspect displayed a complete disregard for the safety of others on the highway, driving recklessly and refusing to comply with law enforcement.”
According to the post, the interstate was closed for about 3.5 hours and the investigation of the incident is ongoing.
