Would you like to own the eye patch worn by "The Duke" in True Grit?

You could, for the right price. It's one of items being auctioned off this Fall by John Wayne's Estate.
Heritage Auctions will conduct the sale October 3-6  in Los Angeles and online, the first ever single-owner auction of John Wayne's private archives. Ethan Wayne, President of John Wayne Enterprises says, "My father's fans were very important to him. He was open and accessible to them, and making these items accessible to the public is something that feels right."
Other items on the auction block include the Golden Globe award Wayne won for True Grit in 1969, the cowboy hat he wore in the sequel Rooster Cogburn, costumes from The Green Barets and Sands of Iwo Jima, movie scripts with Wayne's handwritten notes and even John Wayne's driver's license.

The Western star died of stomach cancer in 1979, at the age of 72. Proceeds from the auction will go towards the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
