LCCC, MPO Launch Seat Belt Campaign
Laramie County Community College and the City of Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Office will launch a joint campaign Monday to encourage LCCC students to buckle up, according to Sreyoshi Chakraborty of the MPO. She says the month-long campaign will feature, among other things, a presentation from a crash survivor on his experiences and a machine which simulates the effects of a car crash.
According to an MPO report, between 2001 and 2010 drivers between the ages of 18 and 20 in the Cheyenne area were involved in 7 fatal crashes and 917 injury crashes. Chakraborty says one survey shows that as few as 61 percent of LCCC students habitually use their seat belts.
