Several Cheyenne area businesses and schools will be closed again Wednesday as the region continues to dig out from this past weekend's historic snowstorm.

Below is a complete list of closures that have been sent to KGAB Radio:

This is a message from Laramie County School District 1 on Tuesday, March 16th at 1:30 p.m. For the safety of all due to ongoing hazardous conditions in the community, and to allow Public Works staff to clear roadways, the district will be closed on Wednesday, March 17. School buildings and district facilities will be closed. Bus routes will not run, and all activities have been cancelled.  Any closure or delay information beyond Wednesday will be communicated prior to 6 AM on Thursday, March 18th.

St. Mary's School, all LCSD schools, City and County government offices will all be closed for another day to give snow removal crews time to better clear the roads.  The roads are still very bad, so I am encouraging you to stay home and avoid traveling at this point.  Please stay safe and know that you are in our prayers!


The Laramie County Commissioners, the Mayor of Cheyenne, and the State of Wyoming have placed the Level 1 Emergency Snow Plan into effect for Cheyenne and Laramie County.

Due to continued transportation issues and unsafe road conditions from the recent extreme weather event, all City of Cheyenne and Laramie County Government offices will be closed for business on Wednesday March 17, 2021. Non-essential employees are to remain home and shelter at this time to allow road crews to continue working on the routes. The City of Cheyenne will conduct their committee meetings remotely through Zoom.

The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department offices will also be closed. Staff at the Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department will be contacting patients that were scheduled for tomorrow’s clinics to reschedule their appointments.

The State of Wyoming offices in Laramie County will be teleworking as much as possible but the offices will not be physically open.

Weather conditions have been determined to be unsafe for travel in Laramie County and the Cheyenne area. The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Cheyenne Police Department have advised no unnecessary travel. Road and weather conditions remain very poor.


Due to weather conditions and snow accumulation, the City of Cheyenne has extended its complete closure of non-emergency offices for Wednesday, March 17th. This includes staff at the Board of Public Utilities (BOPU), however, please call 307-637-6471 if you have a water or sewer emergency.

Any unnecessary travel is discouraged at this time. We appreciate your patience to allow snowplows and emergency vehicles to operate. City and contracted crews are working around-the-clock to remove snow from primary and connector streets in addition to residential areas.

Due to the closure, transit buses will not be available. Additionally, those who had an arraignment or ticket due on Monday, March 15th or Wednesday, March 17th through the Municipal Court have been rescheduled for Friday, March 26th at 9:30 a.m.

Despite the closure, the City will conduct their committee meetings remotely through Zoom on Wednesday, March 17th. The Finance Committee Meeting is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. and the Public Services Committee Meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m. Zoom information and links for both meetings can be accessed at www.cheyennecity.org/ecm

The City of Cheyenne will notify employees and the public if weather interferes with normal business operations past Wednesday.

Due to continued hazardous conditions LCCC will be closed on Wednesday, March 17, this includes both the Cheyenne and Laramie campuses. All classes and events are canceled.

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center outpatient departments and Cheyenne Regional Medical Group clinics will remain closed tomorrow for the safety of our patients and staff. CRMC’s emergency department continues to be open 24/7 for emergency services and care.

After two days and 30-odd inches of sow, southeast Wyoming was left buried. An in the grand tradition of every generation since the invention of the camera, we took pictures of the snow.

The Blizzard of March 2021 covered up our driveways, fences, and in some cases porches. It trapped up in our homes and canceled our plans.
