King Soopers has recalled its chicken salad, and chicken salad sandwiches from its locations in Colorado, Utah and New Mexico and Wyoming. According to the FDA, the chicken salad may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Wyoming has only one King Soopers location in Cheyenne, but in Colorado there are 153 locations in Metro Denver alone.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause acute, and sometimes fatal, infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. While those who are healthy may suffer from a number of short-term illnesses, none of them look fun as described in more detail by the FDA. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

No confirmed illnesses or injuries are reported at this time, but in that event, individuals are urged to contact a healthcare provider.

The chicken salad sandwich was a prepackaged 6.8 oz item sold in the deli department and King Soopers has removed this item from store shelves. King Soopers customer recall notification system is in use on packages with “Sell by dates” 09/20/17 thru 09/28/17.

The company has ceased production and distribution of the product pending investigation. Those who have purchased the chicken salad should not consume it and return it to a King “Soopers for a full refund.

Customers who have questions may contact 1-800-KROGERS or Kroger.com.
