Do you remember watching the debut of MTV on August 1, 1981?

It was revolutionary at the time, a TV channel playing nothing but music. From the comments on the You Tube page, a lot of people, including myself, would love the channel to get back to playing all music videos rather than all the reality shows.

Ultimate Classic Rock has posted footage from their first day of broadcasting, complete with vintage commercials.

When MTV premiered 30 years ago today, Mark Goodman was the first host or veejay featured. The other four original veejays were Martha Quinn, J.J. Jackson, Nina Blackwood and Alan Hunter.

Most people know the first video played on MTV, but what was the second? It was Pat Benatar's "You Better Run."
