If you just can't wait until the State Capitol reopens tomorrow, Wyoming PBS has a sneak peek at the recent renovation.

"When I walked in and I saw the grandeur and how well it is done, it gives you goosebumps," former Wyoming Governor Matt Mead said. "It's not only important to Wyoming, and the country, it's important to the world."

Lawmakers first proposed a comprehensive renovation of the Capitol in the early '90s. By the early 2000s, an appropriations committee began saving money for the $300 million project. Nearly three decades later, construction finally began in 2017.

"I knew it was gonna be tough, I didn't quite know how tough it was gonna be," Mead admitted.

Even at a steep cost, Mead and his successor Mark Gordon both consider the project to be a wise investment for Wyoming's future.

"There is something magical when you come to work in the building," Gordon said. "You (feel) the depth of the history and the expectations of the people that Wyoming will move forward."
