With the Capitol Square Project well underway, it's interesting to know that today was a big day when the building made the National Register of Historic Places.

The Wyoming State Capitol construction began when the state was a territory and was completed in 1890, the year Wyoming became the 44th state in the Union.

On this day in 1973, the Wyoming Capitol building was added to the National Registry of Historic Places. That's a pretty big deal because a few of the ways that any building can make the registry are age, integrity and significance.

According to their website, the process usually takes about 45 days after State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) submits a building for consideration.
