Wyoming lawmakers are reportedly considering a proposal to allow the storage of spent nuclear fuel rods in the Cowboy State.

Supporters of the idea say it could help state government make up for some of the revenues being lost by the decline of the coal industry, and say any such plan would have numerous safeguards in place.

Opponents argue that no system is ever failsafe and point out that some spent nuclear fuels can remain radioactive for years. Some also argue that state government needs to cut the budget and live within its means before exploring these kinds of ideas.

So what do you think? Is this a potential way for Wyoming to diversify our economy and raise revenues for state government?

Or is it a really bad idea and a potential safety hazard? We'll publish the results of our poll on Monday, Sept. 9th.
