Will you sign the petition to have the Grateful Dead play at next year's Super Bowl?

A Dead Head started a petition recently to coax the NFL into asking the remaining Grateful Dead members to play the halftime show at next year's big game, so far it has over 12,000 signatures.Douglas Machado, a Grateful Dead fan in Pennsylvania, had hoped to gather 10,000 signatures on his petition, but the numbers kept adding up and he's gaining more and more exposure. Officials from the Grateful Dead have said 'We're in' if the NFL were to ask the band to play.

The surviving members of the Grateful Dead are currently heading out on tour with guitarist John Mayer and others as Dead & Company, they'll play two nights at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield right before Thanksgiving, November 24 and 25.

Dead & Company consist of Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart along with guitarist John Mayer, keyboardist Jeff Chimente and percussionist Oteil Burbridge. They're on tour from the end of October at Madison Square Garden until the end of this year. I think they were looking for more gigs to fill out their tour.
To celebrate their 50th anniversary as a band this year, the Grateful Dead members played three sold-out nights at Soldier Field in Chicago over the Fourth of July holiday and just before that they warmed up by playing concerts at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
That happens to be the site of the Super Bowl in 2016, also celebrating it's 50th year. And the Grateful Dead first met and formed their band in this same northern California area. Coincidence? Or is this a cosmic happening destined to be? If the Grateful Dead play their cards right, they might be just end up on stage during halftime of the big game at the end of this season.
