Filipino Restaurant Opening New Location In Cheyenne

The Nipa Hut is moving to a new brick-and-moral location in Cheyenne. The popular Filipino food trailer and restaurant will soon be expanding, taking over the building on 4014 Central Avenue near Lions Park.

The Nipa Hut trailer, adorned with thatched leaves and bamboo siding, hit the streets in 2013. They have also operated a small storefront near F.E. Warren Air Force Base for several years, introducing local diners to lechon, lumpia, pancit, sinigang, siopao, and other flavors from the Philippines. The Nipa Hut has been named the best food truck in Wyoming by The Daily Meal for the past two years.

The new restaurant will feature an expanded menu, including the decadent deep-fried banana Turon rolls, and the tropical Halo Halo smoothies, made with milk, bananas, yams, coconut, custard, and ice cream. Their trailer will still appear at local events during the summer months and they will continue their catering business for events and large parties.

The Nipa Hut hasn't set an official date for their opening yet but hopes to be up and running by the end of the month, according to their Facebook page. The space on the southwest corner of Central and 8th Avenue was previously occupied by The Loco Grill, which closed in September after a little over one year in business. Prior to that, it was the home of Daylight Donuts/Chinese Express for 11 years and has also been a photography shop and a Mexican restaurant.
