According to an article in Jackson Hole Buckrail, at least three people were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] agents in Jackson recently.

The article quotes an attorney as saying she frequently sees ICE agents in the Jackson area.

There is also a phone listing for an ICE office in Cheyenne, although attempts to contact that office on Wednesday morning were not immediately successful. But the arrests made us wonder whether illegal immigrants are really a big problem in Wyoming.

Are they taking jobs from Americans and committing crimes? Or are they filling an important niche in the economy and contributing to our communities? Or perhaps their numbers are so small that they really aren't a factor at all?
